Tired of being tired?

“Your future depends on your DREAMS so go to SLEEP.” – Mesut Barazany

Every day that I go to school, I see many of my friends are tired. Do they need to be so tired, and would they benefit from sleeping more?

For me, sleeping isn’t a waste of time. I actually feel like I’m gaining time. Time that can be used more efficiently. Time to be used to grow myself. My workflow is a lot better when I’ve had enough sleep.

Sleeping a lot isn’t the only key to success. Sleeping efficiently is the way to go. Nine hours of sleep is nine hours of sleep, surely? In my opinion, nine hours in bed isn’t equal to 9 hours sleep.
Ever woken up during night to go to the toilet or for a drink of water? Or maybe because your brain is smashed with questions? Do you remember when you fell asleep?
If you go to bed at nine o’clock will you actually fall asleep at nine o’clock?

Sleeping is a state of mind. A way of clearing your thoughts, of reexperiencing your life. Letting your brain process the information it received throughout the day.

So I’ve got a question to you:
Before you go to bed, do you shut down your PC without saving data and closing all applications?

No?

Why are you doing this to your body? Don’t you think your body needs to shut down and save everything that happened? Using your mobile phone before sleeping activates your mind, which is not what you want when you are supposed to be trying to sleep!
You can take out the USB stick plenty times without losing any data, but in the end you will eventually harm the stick.

How can you relax your body before falling asleep?
I prepared a list for you what helped me the most:

  • Getting fresh air to your sleeping room before going to bed
  • Shutting down all electronical devices at least 30 minutes before falling asleep. Try to power them off and remove all plugs from the socket.
  • Read a book, write a poem, remember what has happened today or do any other kind of intellectual art
  • Calm down and try not to get interrupted by anything or anybody. Do it like your mother has told you if you can’t sleep 😀 one sheep, two sheeps, three sheeps,….
  • Keep a dream diary to sum up all your dreams. You think you do not dream very often? Well, just try to find yourself in the morning instead of rushing out of bed and try to remember what you have been dreaming. With some practice you may remember some of them.
  • Get a regular sleeping habbit. There is nothing worse than sleeping at different times a day. The night is meant for sleeping, whilst the day is used for working.

If you have any other tips on how to get your body ready for sleeping, please let me know in the comments down below!

So don’t be tired of being tired anymore! 😉

Setting Goals – Planning for the future

A goal without a plan is just a wish!

Last week I have been talking about my past and what inspires me. I got lots of great feedback and I also got asked to write about the present and the future. Where do I see myself in five years time and how can I set my goals properly?

I see many people struggle with achieving their goals. Actually, I hate seeing people fail in their life. Failure might be the biggest danger for happiness.

This week I got a little workshop for you. The next time you enter any public transport (i.e bus, train or whatsoever) you briefly inspect your fellow passengers. Do they look happy? What could they feel like? It is lots of fun inspecting strangers and guessing how they feel and what causes their mood. There are plenty of possibilities.

There is one thing I’ve recognized: Most of them seem to be unhappy. Whether they are dissatisfied with their work, their relationship or whatsoever, their face is filled with disappointment.

It is your choice to make the best out of your living. You only live once, so why should not you take a risk? If you have got nothing, you cannot lose anything.

Setting your goals.

What helped me the most to become happy is achieving goals. Having success. I got something to celebrate, something to be happy about because I achieved it. Split your goals into milestones and celebrate every milestones. Bigger milestones can be every month, small ones every week or even every day! I tend to pin my tasks and goals onto my door. Seeing them every time I enter my room, I can be happy about what I have accomplished. What I have achieved. And it makes me smile looking at these pins!

Just a year ago I started to read books about communication psychology and goal setting. It helped my personal development and I got to know myself a lot better. Knowing yourself is the key to success. Being aware of your own values makes it a lot easier to choose the right tasks and fulfill them. Always take care of the effects those tasks might have on your personality.

Values can be:
– Adventure
– Love
– Friends
– Respect
– Traveling
– Religion
– and many, many more…

Focusing on tasks will develop certain values while other values get neglected.

Where do I see myself in 5 years time?

Next year I will graduate from my Higher Technical College for Construction Engineering in Linz. I plan to work in Sweden for 3 months before doing alternative service. In Austria you have a compulsory military service. Every citizen needs to go to the army for at least six months after turning 18 years old or graduating from school. If you refuse using weapons you have the ability to do alternative service. I tend to help other people instead of using weapons.

Having the A-Level, I will go to university in a foreign country. Audio engineering would be my go-to and I will see if I can make it in the industry.

I hope that I can make a living of music and influence our society in a positive way.

If you have got any questions to me about setting goals, personal development or any other questions do not hesitate to contact me!
